Face of Forgiveness: Reverend Doctor Johannes Christian

Through a collaboration with Vincentian Ohio Action Network and Healing Broken Circles organizations, 
i had the opportunity to meet and make a portrait ofthe Reverend Doctor Johannes Christian.

In 2001, the minister was almost killed when a 15-year-old boy threw a rock from an I-70 overpass near Springfield, Ohio and it smashed through his windshield hitting him in the face. The rock broke every bone in his face, leaving him blind, disfigured and almost killed him. He has since had nearly 40 surgeries.

Reverend Doctor Christian later traveled to the prison where the boy who threw the rock, who had plead guilty to attempted murder was serving his 12-year sentence, and he forgave him.

The Reverend travels the world teaching forgiveness, and how forgiveness enables individuals to be triumphant over tragedy.
